Preparing for Your Piercing: What to Know Before You Go

Getting a piercing is an exciting experience—whether it’s your first or your tenth. At Eir Piercing, we want to make sure your visit is smooth, comfortable, and stress-free. A little preparation can go a long way in making your appointment easier and helping your body heal well afterward.

Here’s how to get ready—physically and mentally—for your piercing.

Bring Valid ID

We require government-issued identification for all piercings. If you’re underage, make sure to check our age policy and bring a parent or guardian with you if needed.

Know Your Medications

Certain medications can affect how you heal. If you’re taking blood thinners, steroids, or immunosuppressants:

Check with your doctor to confirm whether your medication may impact healing or blood clotting.

Let your piercer know ahead of time so we can ensure your safety.

Avoid aspirin or NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) before your appointment, as they can increase bleeding.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Your immune system works best when you’re well rested. Aim for a full night of sleep before your appointment to help your body handle the piercing and begin healing right away.

Eat a Balanced Meal

Don’t arrive on an empty stomach—doing so can make you feel faint or dizzy during your appointment. Eat a nourishing meal about an hour beforehand to keep your blood sugar stable.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water supports circulation and helps your body recover more efficiently. Come to your appointment well-hydrated.

Be Mentally Rested and Ready

It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous. If you’re anxious or overwhelmed, take a few deep breaths and give yourself space to feel excited too. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Wait If You Have Upcoming Surgery or Dental Work

If you have surgery or major dental work planned soon, it’s best to wait before getting pierced. Your immune system will already be working hard, and healing multiple wounds at once can delay recovery.

Eir Piercing isn’t open just yet, but we’re working hard to bring this vision to life. Got questions or looking for a trusted piercer in your area in the meantime? We’re happy to help, just reach out.
