How old do I have to be for a piercing or tooth gem?
16 years and above:
Most standard piercings (lobes, nostrils, helix, etc.) with valid government-issued photo ID.
18 years and above:
Nipple, genital, surface, and dermal piercings, as well as all tooth gem applications.
We do not offer piercings or tooth gems to clients under 16, even with parental or legal guardian consent.
All clients must bring valid photo ID. Clients aged 16–17 may be required to attend with a parent or legal guardian, who must also present valid ID.
Can I bring my own jewellery or gem?
For safety and hygiene reasons, we only pierce with jewellery and apply tooth gems purchased through our studio. This ensures all materials meet professional standards for quality, biocompatibility, and sterilisation.
Do piercings or tooth gems hurt?
Everyone experiences sensation differently. Most piercings feel like a quick pinch that lasts a moment.
Tooth gem application is generally painless, there are no needles or drilling involved, only a simple bonding process.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
We recommend:
Getting a good night’s sleep before your appointment
Eating a balanced meal beforehand
Staying well hydrated
Avoiding alcohol, recreational drugs, and NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen) for 24 hours prior
Brushing your teeth before a tooth gem appointment
What if I’m nervous, neurodivergent, or need specific accommodations?
You’re in the right place. Eir Piercing is designed to be calm, low-sensory, and supportive. If you experience anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or have accessibility needs, please let us know, we are happy to adapt the experience wherever possible.
Is your studio plus-size friendly?
Absolutely. Our furniture and setup are spacious, sturdy, and designed to support comfort across all body types. Everyone is welcome here.
Can I get pierced or a tooth gem while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Piercings:
We do not pierce clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the body’s immune response and healing priorities change during this time.
Tooth gems:
Although tooth gems are non-invasive, we do not offer this service during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How long will healing or wear time take?
Piercings:
Healing times vary depending on the placement and the individual. We will provide personalised aftercare instructions and healing expectations based on your specific piercing.
Tooth gems:
With proper care, tooth gems can last for months or longer, depending on placement, habits, and oral care.
Will it damage my body or teeth?
Piercings:
When performed professionally and cared for properly, piercings heal safely and are intended for long-term wear.
Tooth gems:
When applied and removed by a trained professional, tooth gems do not damage tooth enamel. The bonding material used is the same type commonly used in dental applications such as braces.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes. Support persons are welcome. Depending on space, privacy, and safety considerations, we may limit the number of guests allowed in the piercing room.
Do you use piercing guns?
No. We use only sterile, single-use needles. This method is safer, more precise, and gentler on the tissue than piercing guns.
How much does it cost?
Pricing varies depending on the service and jewellery or gem design selected. All pricing includes professional consultation, setup, application, and aftercare guidance. Starting prices are listed on individual service pages.
Do you offer jewellery downsizing or tooth gem removal?
Jewellery downsizing:
Yes. Many piercings require longer posts initially to allow for swelling. Once healing progresses, we recommend returning for downsizing to improve comfort and aesthetics.
Tooth gem removal:
We do not remove tooth gems in-studio. Removal is quick and safe when performed by a dentist.
