FAQ

How old do I have to be for a piercing or tooth gem?

  • 16+ years old: Most standard piercings (lobes, nostrils, helix, etc.) with valid government-issued ID.

  • 18+ years old: Nipple, genital, surface, dermal piercings, and all tooth gem applications.

  • Under 16: We do not offer piercings or tooth gems under 16, even with parental consent.

All clients must bring valid photo ID. For clients under 18, we may require a parent or legal guardian to be present and show their ID as well.

Can I bring my own jewelry or gem?

For safety, we only pierce with jewelry and apply gems that are purchased through our studio. This ensures they meet professional standards for material, quality, and sterilization.

Do piercings or tooth gems hurt?

Everyone experiences sensations differently. Most piercings feel like a quick pinch that lasts a second, and tooth gems are completely painless: no needles, no drilling, just a simple bonding process.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

We recommend:

  • Sleeping well the night before

  • Eating a balanced meal beforehand

  • Staying hydrated

  • Avoiding alcohol, drugs, and NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) for 24 hours before your appointment

  • Brushing your teeth before a tooth gem appointment

What if I’m nervous, neurodivergent, or need specific accommodations?

You’re in the right place. We’ve designed Eir Piercing to be low-sensory, calming, and supportive. Let us know your needs! We are happy to adapt the experience for anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or accessibility.

Is your studio plus-size friendly?

Absolutely. Our furniture is sturdy, spacious, and designed for comfort across all body types. We want everyone to feel safe and supported here.

Can I get pierced or a tooth gem while pregnant or breastfeeding?

  • Piercings: We do not pierce clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, since your immune system and healing priorities shift during this time.

  • Tooth gems: These are non-invasive and generally considered safe, but we will not offer this while pregnant or breastfeeding.

How long will healing or wear time take?

  • Piercings: Healing times vary by placement and individual body. We’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your piercing.

  • Tooth gems: With proper care, they willl last as long as you take care of it.

Will it damage my body or teeth?

  • Piercings: When done professionally and cared for properly, piercings heal safely without long-term effects.

  • Tooth gems: When applied and removed by a professional, they do not damage your enamel. The bonding material is the same as what dentists use for braces.

Can I bring a friend with me?

Yes! Support people are welcome, though we may limit the number of guests in the piercing room depending on space and safety guidelines.

Do you use piercing guns?

No. We use only sterile, single-use needles; safer, more precise, and gentler than piercing guns.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the piercing or gem design you choose. We’re happy to work within your budget. All prices include professional consultation, setup, application, and aftercare guidance.

Do you offer jewelry downsizing or gem removal?

  • Jewelry downsizing: Yes. Many piercings require a longer post initially to allow for swelling. Once healed, we recommend coming back to downsize for comfort and aesthetics.

  • Tooth gem removal: No. Removal is quick and safe, and should only be done by a dentist.
